Rajesh Ananthasubramanian’s moment of reckoning came when he was handpicked from Sify (then Satyam Infoway) and asked to turn around the e-commerce initiative at Indiaplaza.com in 1999 in the US. More...
He managed the Integration project of two ecommerce websites (Indiaplaza.com and Fabmall.com) in a single technical platform – Microsoft.net technologies and launched the largest gifting platform – a catalog of more than 2 million products. He built relationships that helped increase the company’s profitability by forging business relationships with large MNCs including Citibank, Kelly Broadcasting, Xoom.com and Direct TV and helped them acquire ethnic Indian customers for their product portfolio.
The preparation for a role as large as this came from his career track record in Marketing, Advertising, Banking and IT. A Masters in Management from Birla Institute of Technology in Pilani with a specialization in Marketing and an Intermediate Degree from ICWAI in cost accounting helped to focus his skills in the two most crucial aspects of managing companies – driving sales and keeping costs down.
Rajesh was part of the core business planning team of Sify – when the company went public for the first time and rose more than 200 Million USD in October 1999 [listed on NASDAQ]
He was responsible for preparing vision document and biz plan, resource augmentation, conducting road show to raise money for the ADR, drawing and executing the operation and tactical plan, implementation support to launch the project and ongoing support to management after implementation.
At Sify.com, his responsibilities included management of the Utility applications division like email, chat and search. His role was to define the products – user interface, features and technology implementation. Additionally, a key focus area was on traffic for the portal and to create profitable opportunities.
Rajesh brings depth and breadth in equal measure to his responsibilities as CEO of Brand Portrait Inc. His experience and knowledge of the US market and the business relationships he has nurtured will help the company as it aims for the global league and puts in place a business model that addresses the current concerns of clients the world over – that advertising agencies are doing far less than what is expected of them.
Rajesh will help Brand Portrait evolve into one of the powerhouses of communication – spanning traditional media and the emerging media like the internet and mobile platforms. Brand Portrait sees that the era of the traditional agency is evolving into one of a responsible branding and communications partner with far more resonance with clients. He is uniquely placed and qualified to help us deliver on that promise.
